25 international talents experience the city during the first edition of Eindhoven Exchange
During Dutch Design Week 2019, Eindhoven365, together with Dutch Design Foundation, Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) and Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), launched the first edition of Eindhoven Exchange. 25 international talents were linked to local (Industrial) design students for a place to stay and got to know the design city of Eindhoven in three days.
Local and international design networks of Eindhoven365 and partners were used to generate applications in the run-up to the campaign, both for places to sleep and international participants. Ultimately, these calls led to 25 perfect matches, based on design disciplines, age and study. The international talents came from London, Paris, Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki, and Abu Dhabi, among others.
A total of 50 local and international participants were immersed in an intensive three-day programme. The days started with breakfast talks, followed by site visits at DAE, TU/e, Van Abbemuseum, Campina site, and Strijp TQ. During the day, participants were given the time to discover the Dutch Design Week and the city on their own. The evenings ended with joint dinners and on Thursday the group partied at the KEIBLACK pop-up café in Brandstore Eindhoven.
Edwin Blok-van Enck, project manager of Eindhoven Exchange, looks back on a successful first edition. "Many of the participants told us that they were surprised by what Eindhoven has to offer. In addition, I already hear stories of students who still keep in touch, which is the ultimate goal of this project. A place to sleep is merely a good start to exchanging experiences and knowledge."
